Paris Jackson has taken to social media to reflect on the loss of her father, Michael Jackson, who died in 2009.
The model – who was only eleven when her pop singer father died at the age of 50 – marked the sad anniversary with two snaps of her and the Thriller hitmaker as well as a video from her childhood.
Paris can be seen smiling as she hugs her dad in the first photo – which has been edited with photoshopping wizardry to merge a recent photo of Paris with a throwback image of Michael.
She then uploaded footage of her dancing with her dad as a tot alongside sibling Prince and penned atop the clip: “12 years…RIP…love and miss you, daddy.”
The final photo was another altered image that stuck together a recent offering of Paris and her mother Debbie Rowe alongsid a throwback image of the King of Pop.
Paris recently discussed her relationship with her mother during an emotional discussion with her friend and fellow music artist Willow Smith on the singer’s Red Table Talk Takeover on Facebook.
In 1996, Michael married American dermatology assistant Debbie and they had two children together: Prince and Paris.
Jackson and Rowe divorced in 1999 and she agreed to the singer getting full custody of the children.
Following Jackson’s death in 2009, his children were cared for by Katherine Jackson and his family.
Speaking of getting to know her mother Debbie at the age of 15, Paris told Willow: “It’s cool. I mean like, getting to know her, seeing how similar we are, getting into what kind of music she likes and she really likes country and folk.”
Paris continued: “I send her some of the stuff that I’m working on that has banjos in them.”
The model-singer then shared a recent photo of herself and Rowe together, which Willow was moved by.
It was also noted by Paris that she closely resembles her mother when she was young in the 1970s.
“We look exactly alike,” said Paris, “It’s just cool having her as a friend.”
Elaborating further on their relationship, she added: “It’s very chill – which I love – it’s the perfect word to describe it.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Paris also discussed losing her father at the age of 11 and the impact on her.
“I don’t know, it kind of just happened,” she explained. “I was so young.
“I was just going through the motions and didn’t really understand what was happening and so I just went with what I was told to do…I didn’t really have much guidance.”
Michael was also father to son, Blanket, with a surrogate mother.
The Thriller singer died on June 25 2009 at the age of 50.
An autopsy found that he died from a combination of drugs, with propofol and lorazepam named as the primary substances in his system, as well as midazolam, diazepam, lidocaine, and ephedrine.
His personal physician Conrad Murray served two years in prison for involuntary manslaughter after he was found to have administered the fatal dose of propofol on the day of his death.
