Adrián Olivares, who gained fame as a member of the iconic Latin boy band Menudo, has passed away at the age of 48. The news of his death was confirmed by his bandmates and family on Monday night.

According to a GoFundMe page set up by his loved ones, Adrián passed away suddenly on Monday. He had recently been diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, which, compounded by his pre-existing ulcerative colitis, worsened his condition.

Adrián joined Menudo in 1990 as the band’s 23rd member, about 20 years after the group was formed. He was part of the band for three years before leaving in 1993 at the age of 16. Despite his brief tenure, he contributed to memorable albums such as 15 Años, Detras Tu Mirada, and Dancin’, Movin’, Shakin’.

In recent years, Adrián launched Wynwood Podcasting, a multimedia studio in Miami, Florida, and previously managed Antenna Sound Inc. He also appeared in the Max miniseries Forever Young.

Sylvia Campos, an ex-girlfriend, also honored Adrián with a heartfelt Facebook post, remembering him as a great man and father.

Adrián’s passing follows the deaths of other Menudo members. Ray Reyes, another former bandmate, died of a heart attack in 2021 at the age of 51. Anthony Galindo, who also was part of Menudo, passed away in 2021 at 41, with his death attributed to complications related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
